Fariba Safai is an abstract figurative artist born in Tehran, Iran. Her work is a reflection of her childhood experiences, witnessing the revolution in Iran and her escape from there, as well as her love of nature growing up as a child in California. She earned a bachelor’s degree in design from SFSU and received a BFA in sculpture from California College of the Arts in 2004. Fariba is an artist activist who has performed in front of thousands of people at women’s rallies including “No Borders No Walls” and “Freedom for Iran” rallies. She has exhibited her paintings at the Swiss Art Fair in Zurich with ArtBox Projects and at the artist residency at Chateau Orquevaux, in France. She has also participated in a street art mural project in Crete, Greece. A collection of her works is presented by Maison Contemporain, Paris, France. BM Gallery. in Orvieto, Italy.
Fariba’s performance poetry has earned her media mentions from several major television news stations. She has been featured in numerous publications and blogs including Create! Magazine blog and had her work featured by All SHE Makes, Visionary Art Collective, and Visionary Projects. She is presently part of the female artist collective called The Art Queens, led by Ekaterina Popova, and she is represented in the online magazine Frontrunner. Fariba currently lives and works between San Francisco and Rome, Italy.
